Activation Lock (iCloud Lock) is a feature introduced with 'Find my iPhone', launched back in 2014 with iOS 7. This feature was implemented as part of a much more comprehensive system generally referred to as Factory Reset Protection or FRP. What is an iCloud locked Apple Device?
The iCloud 'Activation Lock' was introduced by Apple in 2014's iOS 7 release, essentially adding the functionality to lock down an iPhone to a users iCloud account. This feature is turned on automatically on any Apple device when someone turns on 'Find my Phone'. Once 'Find my Phone' is enabled the Apple device cannot be erased.
